Controlling cookies
While most web browsers and mobile settings are initially set up to automatically accept cookies, these browsers and mobile settings will also give you the option of controlling cookies through their respective settings.
You have the option to refuse all cookies on your mobile application, internet browser, and/or any other websites that you use to access Trepup by changing your mobile or internet browser settings to the extent permissible on your device. However, by doing so, you may not be able to use certain features on Trepup and may not be able to take full advantage of all the offerings and interest-based advertising. You can remove cookies by following the directions provided in your application or browser help file.

Types of cookies
Trepup uses cookies with the following kinds of storage periods:
-
Session cookies:
These cookies are temporary cookies that remain on your device until you close the browser or application or for as long as the session is active.
-
Persistent cookies:
These cookies remain on your device until you manually delete the cookies or upon the expiration of the cookies, whichever is earlier. Expiration dates are set within the cookies and may range from a few minutes to several years.
Trepup uses other types of cookies for the following purposes:
-
Essential cookies:
These cookies are necessary to enable users to navigate through the website and for us to provide Trepup features. Such cookies are required to monitor the functioning of the website, prevent fraudulent activity, improve security, and allow you to make use of features such as saved search or similar related features.
-
Performance and analytics cookies:
These cookies help improve the performance of the website by tracking activities such as the features visited, time spent on Trepup, and issues encountered, if any. These cookies help us conduct research and diagnostics to improve the website.
-
Preference cookies:
These cookies store your preferences, such as language and currency preference, and prevent you from re-entering information you have previously provided to personalize and enhance your user experience. Such cookies also enable us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using the website. They help us identify you when you sign in to Trepup, save your username and other demographic preferences, and store your viewed items to enhance the presentation of user content within the website. This helps us provide you with recommendations and other customized features.
-
Targeting and advertising cookies:
These cookies are used to provide user content that may be relevant or of interest to you. They may be used to provide targeted advertisement based on the websites you visit, the user content you view, and the time spent on each of the foregoing. Some of the advertising cookies associated with Trepup belong to our third-party service providers. These cookies help in measuring the performance of the advertiser’s campaign by analyzing your interaction with such advertisements.
-
Session management cookies:
These cookies are enabled for sign-in management and session transition across the website. Usually, these cookies are deleted once you sign out. However, in some cases, they may remain after you sign out to keep track of your preferences. This prevents the need to re-enter information you had already provided during your last visit.
We may also use a programming language to capture cookies, which means we may use browser cookies that are temporarily stored in your system to understand your browsing behavior. Such cookies are not transferred outside your system and will be deleted when you clear all the cookies from your browser.
Use of cookies and plugins by third parties
Third parties like analytics companies and advertisement networks use cookies to collect user information on an anonymous basis. They may use that information to build a profile based on your activities on Trepup and other websites that you have visited. We may enter into arrangements with such third parties, and you can learn more about how these companies use your information through their respective privacy policies. However, we do not have any control over such third-party cookies, which are governed by their respective privacy policies.
In addition to the use of cookies, Trepup integrates third-party plugins to enhance user experience and facilitate easier sharing of content across various social media platforms. These plugins appear on our site as share icons representing popular social media networks, such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and others, allowing users to seamlessly share content such as blog posts, products, and multimedia directly from Trepup.
When you interact with these plugins, such as by clicking a share button, the respective social media site receives information about your action, even if you do not have an account or are not logged into that platform. This interaction triggers the social media network to collect data including your IP address, browser information, and more, according to their data collection and privacy policies.
It's important to note that the presence of these plugins means that your data may be directly transferred to the social media network's servers, where it can be stored or processed further. The scope and purpose of such data collection, its further processing and use by the social media networks, and your rights and setting options for protecting your privacy should be checked within the privacy policies of these networks. Trepup does not have access to or control over the cookies and the data collected by these third-party social media plugins.
Web beacons and other technologies
We use additional technologies such as web beacons (also known as clear GIFs or pixel tags) to help track user activities and preferences. Web beacons are graphic images with unique identifiers that are embedded invisibly on web pages or emails to help us understand our users better.
For instance, web beacons in the emails we send you help us track if you have opened the email or clicked on links within that email. They can also be used to see if an email was read or forwarded to someone else, or if a web page was copied to another website. We use data collected using web beacons to generate reports concerning the performance of your emails and the actions of your contacts.
While you do not have the option to opt out of web beacons used in web pages, you may limit their use by opting out of the cookies they interact with.
We use local storage to facilitate specific functions. However, we do not retain the data captured through local storage.
We also use other technologies that are similar to cookies, such as browser storage and plugins. Like cookies, some of these technologies may store small amounts of data on your device. We may use these and other technologies for similar purposes as cookies, such as to enforce the Terms of Service and other Policies. There are ways to control these technologies, such as clearing your browser storage, which is a feature commonly available under the browser settings option.
Do Not Track
The World Wide Web Consortium has been working with industry groups, internet browsers, technology companies, and regulators to develop a Do Not Track technology standard. No standard has been adopted to date. At present, we do not respond to web browser Do Not Track signals.
